Charitable Millbrook firm raises nearly £1000 for Jeremiah’s Journey

Millbrook-based J Weekes Funeral Directors have always tried to help the local community and charities in many aspects of the business.

It was an easy decision to help Jeremiah’s Journey as it’s a local bereavement charity for children and young people based in Plymouth.

After lengthy chats with the charity the company held a small, friendly Christmas Fete in Millbrook Village Hall. The day consisted of many friends and family on hand to help with setting up the event.

There were 12 stalls all featuring unique local crafts from jewellery, children’s clothes and soap. The village folk band donated their time and skill, helping to create a lovely atmosphere and everyone seemed to enjoy the day.

JD Hampers from Torpoint donated a large Christmas hamper as its own raffle and it raised a substantial amount of money. Charlotte Pine of J Weekes said: “We were so pleased that so many people turned out for the day, donated raffle prizes from stall holders and other attendees. Thank you to everyone that helped and we would like to announce that we raised £985.80.

“We are looking forward to helping another charity in the summer and hope to be able to help anyone we can.”
