5 Helpful Tips from our Plymouth Distribution Team

We’re pleased to have an amazing group of people working for Cornerstone Vision, including our Plymouth Distribution Team. This is made up of some 80 men and women who take personal care of our door-to-door delivery service. These are the people who make Plymouth leaflet delivery happen almost as if by magic! So what tips can they provide to potential advertisers to make your leaflet distribution campaign more effective?

Our managing director, Ian Pilkington believes ‘Plymouth has huge potential’ and recently shared 3 best ways to target the city. One of these is via effective leaflet delivery. Ian also offered the following insights on behalf of the Plymouth Distribution Team, many of which have served the company for years and have a wealth of insight. So what are the secrets to leafleting success?

Our Plymouth Distribution Team says :

1. Choose the right material

Planning your campaign is key. First up one must decide on the format, whether it’s a flyer, folded leaflet, glossy brochure, prospectus or magazine. All are valid depending on the market you wish to reach. For example a flyer may work best for a small business whereas a slick brochure is ideal if you are selling property.

Cornerstone can distribute your printed material or take care of the whole process including design and print.

People like to receive something tangible in their hands, that they can touch, pass on or store for when they need it. This is why leaflet distribution works so well.

2. Don’t cut corners with the design

Just because you choose a simple flyer doesn’t mean the design doesn’t matter. Effective copywriting and appropriate visuals can make a huge difference. There are many Graphic designers in Plymouth who can help your business grow. At Cornerstone, we have a widely respected print and design department headed by Leah Jeffery. Email her about your design requirements – leah@cornerstonevision.com.

3. Ensure you have a good offer

Make sure you have an effective call to action. Good offers will always achieve good results. A great way to monitor this is by using coupons or codes to provide a discount or special offer. This is also a helpful way to measure response. Cash off or a percentage discount can work well.

The best offer we ever ran in terms of results was ‘A Penny a Pastie Day’ to celebrate the Centenary of a pie shop. The idea was to charge customers what they would have paid 100 years ago. Needless to say, there were people queuing around the block. Offers like these can work even if you limit them to the first so many people. They create a buzz and excitement that builds a lot of goodwill and makes for great photographs!

Another offer which was very successful was a shop that gave away a free bottle of ‘plonk’ when you spent so much. That went through the roof. So it pays to be imaginative!

4. Target your audience

Leafleting enables you to fine-tune your audience in ways other forms of advertising cannot provide. You can target a particular street, block, or neighbourhood to deliver advertising materials to your immediate vicinity.

Our Plymouth Distribution Team offers specificity. Most of our areas consist of about 1000 houses so you can get really specific about the areas you want to target. You can also choose a specific group of streets, unrestricted by postcode sectors.

Clients who use this service range from a local hairdresser who’s just starting up and wants to work only in their vicinity to childminding services who want to target people in a certain area. Takeaway outlets also like to be really specific. They talk a lot about the golden mile which is the one-mile radius around their business.

Our Plymouth Distribution Team can extend your distribution to complete city coverage for businesses like kitchen or bathroom makeover companies, law firms or recruitment agencies. Our maximum distribution area is similar to that used by our flagship publication, The Plymouth Chronicle reaching over 90,000 homes.

5. Use a team you can trust

It’s important to know that each item you have paid to be designed and printed reaches its intended destination. Today’s technology allows us to monitor our Plymouth Distribution Team very carefully. This is something we do to build increased trust with our clients.

Our distributors download an app onto their phones, which gives a trail that shows where they start and stop while they’re out. This provides us with a map that shows the routes they’ve taken. We can also zoom in and see the trail going backward and forward. This provides a significant level of accountability, on a foundation of recruiting the best people for the job.

Our Plymouth Distribution Team has been delivering flyers, leaflets, brochures etc to the city since 1985. Our customers keep on coming back to us, because they know it works. It’s all about Reach, Reliability, Repetition and Reputation.
